Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' is a striking Japanese Maple featuring deeply lobed, crimson-purple leaves that mature to vibrant scarlet-red in autumn. This deciduous tree provides year-round colour and architectural interest, with rich foliage from spring through summer. For best colour and leaf health, plant in a sheltered site away from harsh winds, which can scorch the leaves. It prefers well-drained soil and generally enjoys partial shade, especially in hotter climates.
